Create A Healthier Home With Environmentally Friendly Cleaners
Health conscious people are always looking for a better way to go about creating a cleaner environment in their homes as well as around their neighborhoods. One way to create that healthier environment is to use environmentally friendly cleaners. The question is where can you find those environmentally friendly products to keep your home healthy?
One way to go about finding the kinds of environmental products that will help you maintain a healthier as well as cleaner home is to look for labels that say they are Green or Eco in nature. Now remember, this is just a starting place when searching for products that are true to their name. After you have selected a product to research, your next step is to read the label to see if this one is really as friendly to the environment as it would like for you to believe.
Environmentally friendly cleaners are not always labeled as such though, and those that are labeled Green may not be as friendly to the environment as they should be. That is the reason the discerning individual should always be on the lookout for quality ingredients that are truly friendly to the environment including that of the home.
Look for ingredients that are natural and biodegradable, and if you see chemical names that you cannot pronounce think twice before putting them in your shopping cart. Here are some ingredients that are in many environmentally friendly cleaners.
• Citrus, soy, lemon juice, tea tree oil, eucalyptus, and plant based surfactants. These ingredients that come from plants are renewable as well as biodegradable and contain no volatile organic compounds.
• Vinegar, borax, and hydrogen peroxide are also biodegradable and if VOC’s are present they are in very low levels. Read the rest of this entry »

Environmentally Friendly Home Heaters
We all worry about doing our bit to protect the environment and many people also want to take this into consideration when looking at home heaters. If you’re trying to find a solution for home heating that doesn’t damage the environment, then you may like to consider the alternatives to electricity, such as solar powered and wood fire heaters.
What is environmentally friendly?
The first thing you should look at if you want an environmentally friendly heater is what exactly environmentally friendly means. Essentially, an environmentally friendly heater is one that uses less fuel or takes its fuel from a renewable source. These are less harmful to the environment than conventional sources of power for a heater.
The following are some examples of heaters that are environmentally friendly:
Wood fire heaters – A wood fire heater can be run using various renewable resources. Wood that is sourced from sustainable and managed forests is one option when heating with a wood fire. The alternative is to use paper ‘bricks’ or ‘logs’. These are made from recycled paper that has been compressed into a bricks or log shape which will burn well and will provide you with warmth from a sustainable source.
The key to having a fire that is also environmentally friendly is to find fuel that comes from sustainable and renewable sources.
Solar power – Tapping into the power of the sun, you can run a solar heater in several ways. Firstly, you may use the sun to heat water and pipe it into your home if you have radiators or underfloor heating. Alternatively, the solar power can be used to run an electric heater, making it more sustainable and without having to tap into the power grid. Don’t worry if you think that the less sunny months are precisely when you need the heating. Read the rest of this entry »

What Does an Environmental Engineer Do?
As an environmental engineer you would be involved to some capacity in protecting the environment on a daily and constant basis. As an environmental engineer you would be working in situations that would have an impact on the air, the plants and even the animals and people around you. You would have the chance to make a difference in the environment in a way that activists simply cannot. Engineers are the thinkers and planners behind the changes we make for our well being everyday. Water and sewer treatment plants, these are designed by environmental engineers. Laws and regulations regarding hazardous materials, again the brain children of environmental engineers. They are think-tanks behind every major environmental change we see, and their jobs are as varied as they are.
The job descriptions for environmental engineers are as different and varying as the people that choose this field of work. Some may choose to work on a local scale, helping the local government to find solutions to problems such as waste management. Some may choose to work on a larger scale project such working for major corporations to ensure proper cares goes to ensure that hazardous waste materials are being disposed of properly.
The work done by these engineers also varies greatly. For one environmental engineer the day may include going to many different testing sites and gathering data, perhaps for a study on acid rain.
The next may be spending the day in a proposed construction site, taking samples to see what kind of organisms are living in the ground, but also spending time to seek out what kind of wild life is living in above ground, this might mean going through tracks, or even droppings, or just sitting around awhile. To him it is worth it to see what effects the proposed build is going to have on the environment. Read the rest of this entry »
